Some tips when spriting.
If you going to make a full character remember to not make it over detailed, the partes of the sprite you can copy and paste can be detailed, like the ccharacters head and the stuff they can use.
2 shades for normal textures and 3 for shiny ones, like hair and metal.
Since you have to use a already existing character as a model their actions are a little limited to the existing sprites, but you can use a little of imagination

@Adoma_hunter Thanks, I will try to keep that in mind! im not doing a full character though, just making single animations for a few of my characters

Also remember to use characters that have similar clothes to the characters you are trying to make.
If you arent making just gifs you dont have to worry about their details and the colors used.
