the whole reason behind a vote system is so people can downvote what they dont like and upvote what they like. whats the point of not downvoting what you dont like

I think the whole point of the voting system, in general, is supposed to be a measure of quality. If someone doesn't like what they see, they can add tags to their blacklist so that they don't have to see that sort of content anymore.

I agree that the amount of downvotes that have popped up on male fart art in the past few days makes this not a result of poor artwork but instead the sex of the person farting. I think qualms of that nature should be resolved via blacklist, not the voting system. Even if I think that the voting system should be reserved for quality of art, the truth is that there is no actual statement expressing that it is only for that purpose.

I'm afraid you're right about that. It's times like this that I kinda wish that there was an alt booru that's similar to this one but made moreso to be more accepting of non-straight fart stuff.

Your aggression is unnecessary and biased. Gay art has been tolerated with little retribution or harassment since the site's inception years ago, and the rules state it's allowed. Only recently did a wave of negative feedback towards male fart art hit the site. Saying that someone should leave for feeling slighted when the thing they were informed was tolerated is being hidden from plain view with purpose makes your point completely baseless and grounded in your personal opinion instead of the site's actual authority.
Whether or not your outburst was caused by ignorance or blatant disregard of the rules is beyond me. If it was ignorance, I suggest you read the rules thread in the forum. If it was disregard, I suggest you to learn how to blacklist tags. It takes no effort and it doesn't affect other people.

Whether or not its allowed isn't even relevant. If you want to use the rules to make a point then you should already know that people are allowed to downvote something if they don't like it. Crying about the downvotes won't change anything. The best you can do is either man up about it or straight up leave because I don't see the downvotes going away any time soon since people are allowed to.

Gay art being allowed IS relevant because the main point of the entire argument is about homosexuality being tolerated on the website.
If you want to use the rules to make a counter-argument against what I said, it would only be beneficial for you to read the thread in its entirety. The rules forum asks users to use the voting system to grade the quality of the image, not the sexual or fetish preference of the user. It even gives you a handy guide to add tags to your blacklist as to avoid the content without affecting everyone on the site. Here's the exact entry:
"Blacklisting a tag, will stop images without that tag from showing. Please use this feature (located in your profile>options) to filter images you do not want to see. I cannot prevent people from down-voting images they do not like, but it would help out a large amount, that if you do not like images fitting a certain tag, to add it so you don't see it in the first place. Thanks."
