Oh, it's simple, sometimes I use smoke tool, but mostly it can be steam tool. I set it to the propper fart color I need, place the steam or smoke effect on the pony's butt, and then presto; we've got ourselves a real sexy wind breaking pony.

Though sometimes, I place the steam/smoke effects on spots where they seem to be coming from their tail ends. Mostly due to the steam or smoke somewhat looking like it's coming from the front and not the back.
